Join our gingerbread people in spreading some festive…
supplies needed:
· 4 cups flour
· 1 cup salt
· 1 ½ cups warm water
· large bowl
· mixing spoon
· rolling pin
· cookie cutters
· toothpicks
· parchment paper
· baking sheet
· oven
· glitter
· paint
· ribbon or string
· polyurethane spray
what to do:
- Preheat your oven to 300 degrees. In your large bowl, mix the flour and salt until they’re blended. Then slowly add water while stirring the mixture. After all the water is added, knead the dough until it is soft.
- Place half the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and use your rolling pin to flatten the dough to 1/8 inch thick. Repeat for the other half. Remove the top sheet of parchment paper and use your cookie cutters to make holiday shapes.
- Add a small hole with a toothpick at the top of each ornament to later attach ribbon or string. Place your parchment paper with the ornaments on it onto a baking sheet and put into the oven for around 1 hour.
- After your ornaments have cooled completely, feel free to decorate them however you like with glitter and paint. You can even let your little ones or pets add a hand or paw print to them. When you’re done with adding your personal touches, give the ornaments a light coating of polyurethane spray. After the spray has dried, run a ribbon or string though the hole on the ornaments and hang on your tree.
